Meinir Heulyn is one of Wales' most experienced and versatile harpists, equally at home on the concert platform, in chamber music, in an orchestra or as a solo performer. Brought up in West Wales, she started to play the harp at the age of ten. After graduating from University College Cardiff, Meinir continued her studies at the Genova Conservatorio. She held the post of principal harp with the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera between 1972-2003, with whom she has performed internationally and recorded extensively.
Her performances display superb musicianship and her passion for traditional music: she is a prolific arranger and has published twenty volumes or so of harp music, ten of these being volumes of Welsh traditional music. They are proving to be an invaluable addition to any harpist's library, taking Welsh culture all over the world.
