Mark Pavey grew up in the North West of England in Poynton, Cheshire. As a teenager he played electric guitar in indie rock bands and started to explore more varied types of blues, folk, jazz and celtic music whilst at University in Cambridge studying Economics and later English Literature.
He then moved to London and was for a period signed to Edel Records and Z Management on artist development deals. During this time he trained with record producer Dave Meegan who had previously worked with U2, Daniel Lanois, Brian Eno, Marillion, The House of Love and Trevor Horn.
Mark met the legendary Davy Graham in 2005 and dedicated the next three years to managing and producing the great man. They toured together for two years and Mark produced his last studio album, 2007’s "Broken Biscuits".
Through this association Mark concentrated on learning music from first principles guided by one of the world’s greatest guitarists. He also met and worked with many of Davy’s contemporaries such as Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Duck Baker and Martin Carthy.
Mark has made his home in North Wales and is now working with British Folk Legend Beverley Martyn to produce a new record featuring the song she wrote with Nick Drake. He is also working on a new record with his band The Dark Philosophers.
